Kayaking the Taveuni Coastline

Kayaking, Water Activities

Kayaking

Since we’re an island kayaking is very popular with tourists and locals alike, and you have the option of kayaking the open ocea – up and down the coastline beside a mixture rocky volcanic outcrops, black sand beaches, and the occasional white sand beach, or alternatively inland through mangroves, streams and rivers. Head upstream and you’ll likely find a waterfall, or just a great spot to sit and relax.

Resorts, Bars and Restaurants: Aroha Taveuni

Aroha Taveuni Beachfront Bures is another of regular spots to get fed and watered. Situated just outside Wairiki with some nice beachfront the resort, like pretty much all resorts on Taveuni, is owner operated with it’s own unique character. Owners Denis and Ngaire are always great fun, and the place is always a favourite for my visiting guests.

The Isle of Dogs ?

For the animal lover such as me there is plenty of opportunity to acquire new four legged friends, and help out with the welfare of animals generally on the island. Here, some of my favourite furry friends who love their life, eat my pizza, and use my pool, and sometimes steal the bedclothes !

Flying High above Soqulu, Taveuni

Every now and then I get the drone out and give it some air – here a few shots high above Soqulu looking down to the golf course and nearby surroundings, plus a few scenic shots on landing and take-off from Matei airport.
