Roger Federer is rumoured to have driven past this tennis court on a number of occasions, and our budding tennis prodigies hang out there in the hope of being talent spotted for a sports scholarship. Some have been hanging out for a few decades by the look of it.
Wining and dining with friends, neighbours and locals, a bit of a sing song or just chilling with the band, and maybe a splash of kava for a good nights rest. Formal dining, beach barbecue, bar snack or picnic – as long as there’s food, a few beers, wine (for the ladies) and good company then a great time is guaranteed.
Aroha Taveuni Beachfront Bures is another of regular spots to get fed and watered. Situated just outside Wairiki with some nice beachfront the resort, like pretty much all resorts on Taveuni, is owner operated with it’s own unique character. Owners Denis and Ngaire are always great fun, and the place is always a favourite for my visiting guests.
I always like to get a few “happy snaps” when out and about doing my social work – here more friends and neighbours I’ve rounded up for the obligatory photo shoot.
Taveuni Dive Resort is the nearest “local” and lies within Taveuni Estates itself just a couple of clicks from Mana Tadra, so as you might guess I’m a fairly frequent visitor! Beers after golf, cooling off in the pool, pizza’s to eat in or take away, and generally socialising and putting the world to right with neighbours and buddies who happen to be passing through.
There’s plenty of socializing, meeting and visiting friends and neighbours around the island – a collection of random photos of some of my favourite people at parties, events, or just generally unwinding after a hot slog around the golf course..
